Planning and Cutting
What a magnificent quilt! Surprisingly simple to make, this quilt's pieced sashing creates a secondary star pattern between the blocks. To fussy-cut the 9" squares from the medallion panels, make a template from clear plastic (download Template Diagrams; PDF file). Include seam lines so you can center motifs. Place template on medallion square, centering. Mark around edge of template and cut out. Repeat for 30 total squares, 15 of each of the 2 medallion designs.

Cream leaf print (blocks, sashing, inner border) 3 1/4 yds.
Burgundy/gold leaf print (blocks) 1 1/4 yds.
Black medallion panel (blocks) 8 full repeats*
Black/gold scroll print (pieced sashing) 2 5/8 yds.
White/gold scroll print (pieced sashing) 1 3/8 yds.
Black large floral (sashing posts, outer border, binding) 3 1/2 yds.
Backing (piece widthwise) 8 1/2 yds.
