Appliquéing the Quilt Center
1. Finger-press ivory solid 31 1/2" square in half vertically, horizontally, and diagonally; use folds as placement guide. Referring to Diagram I, position Template A-I fabrics (in alphabetical order). Using appliqué method of choice (see Basic Quiltmaking Instructions), appliqué in place. Trim to 30 1/2" square. Make 1.

Stitch together pink solid and ivory solid 4 1/4" quarter-square triangles (see Diagram II). Make 4 pieced strips with 11 pink triangles; make 4 pieced strips with 18 pink triangles.

Quilt Top Assembly
Note: Refer to Assembly Diagram for following steps.
3. Stitch 11-pink triangle strips to sides, top, and bottom; sew corner seams. Stitch ivory solid 9 1/2" x 36" strips to sides; trim even with top and bottom. Sew ivory solid 9 1/2" x 56" strips to top and bottom; trim even with sides.
4. Stitch 18-pink triangle strips to sides, top, and bottom; sew corner seams. Stitch remaining ivory solid 9 1/2" x 56" strips to sides; trim even with top and bottom. Sew remaining ivory solid strips to top and bottom; trim even with sides.

5. Layer and baste quilt top for quilting method of your choice (see Basic Quiltmaking Instructions). The maker stitched 1" cross-hatching throughout the center square (over the appliqué) and on the inner ivory border. The triangles are outlined quilted. The outer ivory border features a cable design.
6. Bind quilt with ivory solid fabric (see Basic Quiltmaking Instructions).
