Piecing and Appliquéing the Blocks and Sashing Units
Step 1. Draw diagonal line on wrong side of assorted light blue/white 1 1/2" square. Referring to Diagram I-A, place marked square on assorted dark/medium blue 1 1/2" x 4 1/2" strip, right sides together, aligning raw edges. Stitch on drawn line; trim away and discard excess fabric. Press open. Repeat process with assorted dark/medium blue 5 1/2" strip. Sew pieced strips to side and top of matching dark/medium blue 4 1/2" square (Diagram I-B). Sew matching light blue/white 5 1/2" strips to sides, 3" x 9 1/2" strip to top, and 2" x 9 1/2" strip to bottom to make Gift Block.
