Making the Shams
1. To make sham front, stitch black/white check 2 1/2" x 28" strips to long
sides of cream/black 21" x 26" rectangle; trim even with top and bottom. Sew
black/white 2 1/2" x 28" strips to top/bottom; trim even with sides. Make 2.
2. To make sham back, press under 1/4" twice (along one 21" side) on each
cream/black 15 1/2" x 21" rectangle; stitch. Position 1 rectangle on second
rectangle overlapping stitched edges so complete sham back measures 21" x
26". Baste overlap. Repeat process of stitching black/white check 2 1/2" x
28" strips to 4 sides. Make 2.
3. Place sham front on sham back, right sides together, aligning raw edges.
Using 1/4" seam allowance, stitch around outside edge. Turn right side out
