Adding the Ruffle
Step 3. Sew bright yellow texture 7” x WOF strips together, end to end; sew ends together to make continuous circle. Fold in half, wrong sides together; press. Using long running stitch, sew line of stitching a scant 1/2” from raw edge through both layers of fabric; repeat 1/4” from raw edge. Draw up stitching until raw edge of ruffle measures approximately 74”. Referring to Diagram III, pin ruffle to large pillow top, right sides together, aligning raw edges and drawing up or releasing gathering stitches as needed to fit. Baste a scant 1/2” from raw edges.

Step 4. Turn under 1/4” on one long side of each bright green print 10” x 12” rectangle. Press. Turn under an additional 1 3/4” to make hems; press. Stitch in place. Stitch 1/4” from folded edge on each rectangle. Repeat process with white/black dot 14 1/2” x 19” rectangles.
Step 5. Layer green/blue pillow top, face down, and bright green print rectangles, right sides up, hemmed edges overlapping in center and aligning raw edges. Pin layers together. Bind with blue/green stripe bias-cut fabric (see Basic Quiltmaking Instructions). Insert pillow form.
Step 6. Lay white/black dot rectangles on white/black dot top, right sides together, keeping ruffle inside seam allowance, rectangle hemmed edges overlapping in center, and aligning raw edges. Pin layers together. Sew around all 4 sides, using 1/2” seam allowance. Trim corners, turn and press. Insert pillow form.
