Piecing and Appliquéing the Block
Step 1. Referring to Diagram I-A, piece circle
using 2 sets of matching Template A fabrics.
Step 2. Finger-press light background 9 " square in half
on both length and width (see Diagram I-B). Using folds as placement
guide, position pieced circle and appliqué outer edge in place
using appliqué
method of choice.
Step 3. Referring to Diagrams II-A through II-D,
align and appliqué assorted Template A fabrics to corners to
make Circle Block.

Our Circle Block pattern was reproduced
from an appliquéd circle quilt (see below) from the Rocky Mountain
Quilt Museum antique quilts collection. The finished size of the quilt's
block is 8 1/2" x 8 1/2". The quilt's overall finished size
is 51" x 85", 6 blocks across and 10 blocks down (no borders).

Quilt Museum antique quilts collection in our Spring 2004 issue of Vintage
