Queen-size Version

Grandmother's clothesline and linen closet were full of clean, bright quilts much like this one featuring 1930s repro prints from Marcus Brothers. Optional machine embroidery motifs recall the beautiful hand needlework Grandma stitched with patience and love.

Fabric Requirements
22 assorted 1930s repro prints (stars, pieced border) 1 fat quarter each*
White-on-white print (background, outer border) 6 1/4 yds.
Yellow print (binding) 1 yd.
Backing 6 1/2 yds.
Batting Queen size
*A fat quarter is an 18" x 20-22" cut of fabric or a true quarter of a yard.

Other Materials
Heirloom Butterfly Circle (B3519) and Heirloom Tulip Circle (A5180) embroidery designs from www.emblibrary.com, or other embroidery designs of your choice, approximately 3" in diameter.

Planning and Cutting
Lisa's quilt is made from assorted fat quarters. Our cutting instructions will lead you to cut the same number of pieces from each fat quarter. This makes cutting easy and fast. It also gives you a choice in the placement of the prints and you will have a few pieces left over once the quilt top is done.
The white embroidered background squares are cut oversized to allow for centering and shrinkage during the embroidery process. We instruct you to trim them after embroidery is complete.
In the pieced border, most of Lisa's rectangles finish 6" in length. If you follow our cutting instructions, all pieced border rectangles will finish 6" except the ends, which are trimmed to fit the sides of the quilt. Feel free to cut the border rectangles varying lengths if you prefer.
