3. Stitch 4 trimmed pieced squares together (Diagram III) to make pillow center. Make 1. 4. Referring to Diagram IV, stitch green 12 1/2" strips to top/bottom. Stitch remaining green strips to sides. Stitch purple mottle 13 1/2" strips to top/bottom. Stitch remaining purple strips to sides. Stitch lavender 14" strips to top/bottom. Stitch remaining lavender strips to sides to make pillow top (Diagram V). Make 1. Finishing 5. Sew ends of cream dot 6" x 200" strip right sides together to form a large loop of fabric. Press in half lengthwise (Diagram VI), wrong sides together. Baste 1/4" and 1/8" in from raw edges (Diagram VII). Pull up basting stitches to gather folded strip into ruffle approximately 72" long (Diagram VIII). 6. Referring to Diagram IX, position gathered ruffle on right side of cream 18 1/2" square, aligning raw edges, and pin in place. Baste 1/4" in from edge. Layer pillow top and backing square, right sides together (Diagram X). Stitch around all sides, leaving opening for turning. Trim corners, turn right side out, and press. Insert pillow form and hand stitch opening closed (Diagram XI).
