Step 2.
Referring to Diagram II-A, draw diagonal line on red/white 2" square.
Place red/white square on white 2" x 3 1/2" rectangle, right sides
together, aligning raw edges. Stitch on drawn line. Trim and discard excess
fabric; press open. Repeat on opposite end of white rectangle to make pieced
rectangle. Make 168. Repeat process using red dot 2" squares on white
rectangle. Make 168.
Step 3. Sew 2 matching pieced rectangles together as shown in Diagram
II-B to make pieced rectangle square. Make 84 squares of each red/white
combination.

Step 4. To make
Capital T Block, arrange and sew 3 rows using 4 matching pieced squares,
4 matching pieced rectangles squares, and matching 3 1/2" red print
square (see Diagram III). Sew rows together. Make 21 blocks of each red/white
combination.

Quilt Top Assembly
Note: Refer to Assembly Diagram for following
step. The setting triangles on all edges and corners are cut oversized
to allow trimming quilt edges even after assembly.
Step 5. Arrange and sew 12 diagonal rows using white 15" quarter-square
triangles, alternating red/white blocks, and white 9 1/2" squares.
Sew rows together. Sew white 8" half-square triangles to corners.
Trim edges even.

Step 6. Layer and baste quilt top for quilting method of your choice.

The antique quilt was hand quilted with double (spaced
1/4" apart) vertical lines (spaced 1 1/4" apart) and double
diagonal lines (spaced 2 1/2" apart).
Step 7. Bind quilt with white solid fabric
(see Basic Quiltmaking Instructions).
