Planning, Cutting, and Marking
Use our signature quilt pattern to create a wonderful memory quilt in
celebration of your next special event. Just follow the instructions in
Step 1 for obtaining signatures for the block center squares. Various
colors of permanent marking pens add to the appeal of the signed blocks.
Partial seaming is used when adding the colorful strips around this log
cabin style block.
If you run short of signed blocks, unsigned blocks can
be incorporated into the design by placing them in the quilt corners as
we did, or in the manner of your choice.

Piecing the Block
Step 1. Have friends sign muslin 4 1/2" squares using fine
line permanent marking pen (see Diagram I). Hint: To help stabilize
squares for signatures, iron shiny side of a small piece of freezer paper
to wrong side of each muslin square. Remind signers to keep signatures
within the 4" finished square size. Remove paper after signing.
Step 2. Referring to Diagram
II, place first assorted texture 1 1/2" x 5 1/2" strip on signed
muslin 4 1/2" square with right sides together and upper right corners
aligned. Sew a partial seam as shown, stopping approximately 2" from
left corner of muslin square. Press partially seamed strip open.
