Planning, Cutting, and Marking
To achieve a clean finish at the top of each flower stem, Lynn carefully removed a few stitches from the flower seam and tucked the end of the prepared bias stem inside. We instruct you to do likewise.

Follow the Assembly Diagram closely when assembling the quilt top.

Piecing the Blocks
1.) To prepare stems, refer to Diagram I. Fold green print bias strips in half, wrong sides together. Stitch 1/4" from raw edge. Trim seam allowance to 1/8". Press tube flat, centering seam allowance on back so raw edge isn’t visible from front. Using 3/8" bias bar makes pressing faster and easier. Make 96 total.

2.) Sew green and white 3" quarter-square triangles together and stitch to green 2 5/8" half-square triangle to make pieced square (see Diagram II-A). Make 96.

3.) Arrange and stitch together 3 pieced squares, 4 white 2 1/4" squares, and white 2 1/4" x 4? rectangle as shown in Diagram II-B. Make 32. To add 3" stem (see Diagram II-C), carefully remove a few stitches along edge of green half-square triangle. Position stem, slipping end into opening. Using appliqué method of choice (see Basic Quiltmaking Instructions), appliqué in place. Position and appliqué remaining 2 stems in place in same manner, finishing with long stem. Make 32.
