Yule Logs
Designed by: Mary Jobe Mason

Everyone knows that Christmas is a magical time of year, and Mary Jobe Mason has been busy playing the part of magician with this delightful wall hanging. By sewing Log Cabin blocks with uneven logs, she has created the illusion of curves throughout the quilt, resulting in a wreath that will be enjoyed for years to come.

Planning, Cutting, and Marking
Use a variety of greens, reds, creams, and tans to achieve a scrappy, textured look. To speed the cutting process, cut fabric strips 1" and 1 1/2" wide, and then cut these into the appropriate length strips). The piecing sequence for some blocks differs from the traditional log cabin, and piecing sequence diagrams are given. Follow these closely, paying attention to color placement as well as piecing sequence. When attaching strips, sew from edge to edge and always press seam allowances in the direction of the last strip added.
