Planning, Cutting, and Marking
Lisa used assorted white and light prints in her flag blocks for variety, but note that one print predominates and thus makes strip-piecing a breeze. This patriotic celebration was created with RJR Fashion Fabric's American Folk Art Collection, and batting was supplied by The Warm Company.

Cutting Instructions
Assorted red prints

... cut a total of: 26 strips 1 1/2" x width of fabric (WOF)
White print
... *21 strips 1 1/2" x WOF
... *8 strips 2 1/2" x WOF 2 squares 6 1/4" x 6 1/4", cut in half twice diagonally to make 8 quarter-square triangles
... 8 squares 3" x 3"
... 1 strip 10 1/2" x 25 1/2"

Assorted blue prints
... cut a total of: 30 rectangles 3 1/2" x 4 1/2"
... 1 Template B
... 3 Template C
Yellow print
... 8 squares 3 3/8" x 3 3/8", cut in half diagonally to make 16 half-square triangles
... 2 squares 5 1/2" x 5 1/2"
... 8 Template A
*Cut first.

Piecing the Blocks
1. Referring to Diagram I-A, stitch assorted red 1 1/2" x WOF strips to sides of white 1 1/2" x WOF strip to make strip set. Make 5. Press in direction of arrows. Cut into 30 segments 5 1/2" wide. Sew assorted blue 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangle to strip segment to make pieced rectangle (see Diagram I-B). Make 30.
