Step 5. Sew 4 pink 6 1/4" half-square triangles to basket square, using "wrong" side of 2 triangles for light pink (see Diagram IV). Make 32 total Basket Blocks. Diagram IV Quilt Top Assembly Note: Refer to Assembly Diagram for following steps. Step 6. Sew 4 vertical block rows of 8 blocks each. Stitch green 1 1/2" x 88" strips to sides of navy/pink/green floral 6 1/2" x 88" strips. Alternately sew block rows together with strips. Note: Take care when positioning floral strips if you wish to achieve consistent alignment of floral motifs from strip to strip across width of quilt. Trim strips even with block rows. Step 7. Sew remaining green 1 1/2" x 88" strips to sides; trim even. Stitch green 1 1/2" x 72" strips to top/bottom; trim even. Sew navy small circle texture 2 1/4" x 90" strips to sides; trim even. Sew remaining navy small circle texture strips to top/bottom; trim even. Step 8. To make side pieced border strip, alternately stitch together 30 pink 4 1/4" quarter-square triangles and 29 white 4 1/4" quarter-square triangles. Hint: To aid with aligning triangles, use our template to clip corners off triangles. Add white 2 3/8" half-square triangle to each end. Make 2 and sew to sides of quilt. For top/bottom pieced border strip, alternately stitch together 24 pink 4 1/4" quarter-square triangles and 23 white 4 1/4" quarter-square triangles. Add white 2 3/8" half-square triangle and pink 2" square to each end. Make 2 and sew to top/bottom of quilt. Step 9. Stitch navy scroll 7 1/2" x 96" strips to sides; trim even. Sew remaining navy strips to top/bottom; trim even. Assembly Diagram Quilting and Finishing Step 10. Layer and baste quilt top for quilting method of your choice (see Basic Quiltmaking Instructions). Susan machine quilted. The blocks, strips, and borders are ditch quilted. The navy/pink/green floral strips are quilted following the printed motif. In the large pink triangles, Susan quilted a 5-stem flower design (inspired by the printed design on the pink fabric). A continuous swirl design is stitched along the inner navy border. A 3-leaf motif is stitched in each white border triangle. The outer border features a diamond cable variation. Step 11. Bind quilt with navy scroll fabric (see Basic Quiltmaking Instructions).
