Chill Be Gone
Chill Be Gone
Designed by Kelly Corbridge

When the weather outside is frightful, you’ll be warm and toasty inside thanks to this homey draft stopper. Too cute to put away, you can also use it to keep the cool air from sneaking out when the weather warms up.

Finished Quilt Size
6" x 36" x 2"

Number of Blocks and Finished Size
8 Tree Blocks 6" x 6"
4 House Blocks 6" x 6"
Planning, Cutting, and Marking
Kelly used two directional fabrics in her design—the brown tree trunk/door fabric and the blue roof/chimney fabric. If you do likewise, take care when cutting patches to ensure that the printed design will run in the intended direction. To add depth to the trees, we instruct you to use a different green for each section, as Kelly did.

Piecing the Blocks
Step 1.
Referring to Diagram I-A, on wrong side of ivory texture
2" x 3 1/2" rectangle, use marking tool of your choice and 45° line on rotary ruler to draw 45° diagonal line from corner to side as illustrated. Mark 8
of each as shown.
Step 2. Place ivory rectangle on corner of green #1 print 2" x 3 1/2" rectangle, right sides together, aligning raw edges (see Diagram I-B). Stitch on drawn line; trim away and discard excess fabric. Press open. Repeat process on opposite end of green rectangle using ivory 2" x 3 1/2" rectangle with opposite diagonal line. Stitch, trim, and press to make tree top section. Make 8. In same manner, make 8 tree middle sections (Diagram I-C) and 8 tree bottom sections (Diagram I-D). Refer to diagrams for rectangle dimensions; mark diagonals on wrong side of ivory texture, then position, stitch, trim, and press.
