Piecing the Blocks
Step 1. Referring to Diagram I-A, sew assorted batik 1 7/8" half-square triangle to light blue mottle 1 7/8" half-square triangle to make pieced square. Make 18 sets of 2 matching. Sew matching pieced squares to ends of light blue mottle 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" rectangle as shown in Diagram I-B. Stitch pieced rectangle to matching batik 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangle (see Diagram I-C) to complete head. Make 18 total.
