With the whirlwind of holiday activities past, it's time to do something for you. Start by making this sewing-theme wall hanging, complete with an appliquéd pincushion and rotary cutter. Embellish the button jar with your favorite buttons, then sit back and enjoy your little corner of the world!

Piecing the Blocks
Step 1.
Make pieced rectangle as shown in Diagram I-A. On wrong side of black 2 3/4" square, draw diagonal line with marking tool of your choice. Referring to Diagram I-B, place square on corner of beige 5" x 7 3/8" rectangle, right sides together, aligning raw edges. Sew on drawn line; trim away and discard excess fabric. Press open to make pieced rectangle. Stitch pieced rectangles and black 4 1/2" x 5" rectangle together to make sewing machine center (see Diagram I-C). Set aside.
