Step 3. Stitch matching print 2" x 6" strip and cut segments together, as shown in Diagram III, to make pieced square. Make 48 total. Step 4. Arrange and sew 2 rows of 2 pieced squares each (see Diagram IV). Sew rows together to make Whirligig Block. Make 12 total. Diagram III Diagram IV Quilt Top Assembly Note: Refer to Assembly Diagram for following steps. Step 5. Arrange and sew 4 rows of 3 blocks each. Sew rows together. Stitch 2" x 48" white solid strips to sides; trim even with top and bottom. Sew white solid 1 3/4" x WOF strips to top/bottom; trim even with sides. Step 6. Sew 2 strips of 31 assorted medium print 2" x 6" strips each; stitch to sides of quilt. Sew 2 strips using 2 white solid 6" squares and twenty-four 2" x 6" assorted medium print strips each; stitch to top/bottom of quilt. Assembly Diagram Quilting and Finishing Step 7. Layer and baste quilt top for quilting method of your choice (see Basic Quiltmaking Instructions). Betty machine quilted an allover meander on the quilt top. Step 8.
