Step 3. Arrange and sew 3 rows using white 2" squares, matching red/ white pieced rectangles, and red 4-patch (see Diagram III). Sew rows together to make red Star Block. Make 20 total. In same manner, make 15 total blue Star Blocks.

Step 4. Referring to Assembly Diagram, arrange and stitch 4 red star rows and 3 blue star rows using blocks, white 3 3/4" x 6 1/2" rectangles, and white 2" x 6 1/2" strips. Alternating colors, sew rows together.
Step 5. Sew white 1 1/2" x WOF strips to top and bottom; trim ends even with quilt sides.
Step 6. To make pieced red border, cut assorted red print strips 2 1/4" wide with varying lengths. Note: Tricia cut her red strips anywhere from 4 1/2" long to 13" long. Stitch strips together to make 4 strips at least 46" long each. Sew 2 strips to sides; trim even with top and bottom. Sew remaining 2 strips to top/bottom; trim even with sides.
Step 7. To make pieced blue border, cut assorted blue print strips 4 1/2" wide with varying lengths. Note: Tricia cut her blue strips anywhere from 4 1/2" long to 14 1/2" long. Stitch strip lengths together to make 2 strips at least 50" long each and 2 strips at least 54" long each. Sew 50" strips to sides; trim even with top/bottom. Sew remaining strips to top/bottom; trim even with sides.

Step 8. Layer and baste quilt top for quilting method of your choice (see Basic Quiltmaking Instructions). The featured quilt was machine quilted with an allover swirl design.
Step 9. Bind quilt with blue print fabric (see Basic Quiltmaking Instructions).
