Michele made four all-beige pieced log cabin blocks for the the corner squares of the center star design. If the holidays are sneaking up on you and you are running short of time, beige 11" squares could be substituted for the pieced corners.

Beige mottle
... *4 strips 2" x 48", pieced from 6 width of fabric (WOF) strips
... *17 strips 2" x WOF
... 16 squares 2" x 2"
... 16 squares 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"
... 16 squares 2 7/8" x 2 7/8", cut in half diagonally to make 32 half-square triangles
Green mottle
... *8 strips 2" x 48", pieced from 12 WOF strips
... *9 strips 2" x WOF
... 8 squares 2" x 2"

Piecing the Blocks and Borders
1. To make green/beige Log Cabin Block, sew beige mottle and green mottle 2" squares together. Stitch 2" x WOF beige mottle strip to side; press strip open and trim even with edges (Diagram I-A). Sew green mottle 2" x WOF strip to side (Diagram I-B); press strip open and trim edges even. Continue sewing strips to sides as shown in Diagrams I-C through I-K. Press each strip open and trim edges even before adding next strip. Make 4 green/beige Log Cabin Blocks. Repeat process using red mottle/beige mottle, red mottle/green mottle, and all beige mottle strips. Make 4 of each arrangement.
