Planning, Cutting, and Marking
We direct you to use 10 different fabrics for the piecing and flowers, which will give you a few more nine-patches, sawtooth squares and petals than you need. Once you've decided on the arrangement for your quilt, pillow shams or some throw pillows would be a great way to use the leftovers.

We instruct you to add the flowering vines after completing all piecing, but feel free to appliqué at whatever point in construction you like, keeping in mind all seam allowances.

Note: Appliqué templates are printed without seam allowance. Click here to download template diagram in PDF format.

Piecing the Blocks and Sawtooth Squares
Step 1. Referring to Diagram I-A, sew matching assorted print 1 1/2" x WOFQ strips to sides of white 1 1/2" x 20" strip. Make 2 of each (20 total). Press in direction of arrows. From each color combination, cut 16 segments 1 1/2" wide. Continuing in same manner, use 2 white 1 1/2" strips and 1 assorted print 1 1/2" strip to make strip set (Diagram I-B). Make 10 total. Press in direction of arrows. Cut 8 segments 1 1/2" wide from each. Referring to Diagram I-C, make Nine-Patch Block using matching 1 1/2" segments. Make 80 total.

Step 2. On wrong side of white 2 7/8" square, draw diagonal line with marking tool of your choice. Referring to Diagram II, place white square on assorted print 2 7/8" square, right sides together. Sew 1/4" seam on each side of marked line; cut apart on marked line. Press open to make sawtooth squares. Make 140 total.
