Piecing and Appliquéing the Blocks
1.
Referring to Diagram I, sew cream squares and green print strips together to make pieced background. Make 5. Repeat using tan squares and green texture strips. Make 4.

2. Finger-press cream pieced background square in half diagonally twice; use folds as placement guide. Referring to Diagram II-A, position Templates A-C and appliqué in place. Make 5. Repeat process using tan pieced background squares and template fabrics. Make 4.

Quilt Top Assembly
Note: Refer to Assembly Diagram for following steps.
3. Sew 3 rows of 3 blocks each, alternating. Sew rows together. Stitch green stripe strips to sides; trim even with top and bottom. Sew remaining green strips to top/bottom; trim even with sides.
4. To make borders, sew 4 strips using 6 red floral print Template D and 5 cream Template D each. Stitch cream Template E and ER to ends. Sew 2 to sides of quilt center. Stitch red floral 4 1/2" squares to ends of remaining pieced strips and sew to top/bottom.

Quilting and Finishing
5. Layer, baste, and quilt. Ann machine ditch quilted the appliqué, the green strips in the block piecing, and the borders. The background was filled with a meander. She double outlined stitched the “V” shape of the red border triangles with stitching lines 1/2" apart. Bind quilt with green stripe. (see Basic Quiltmaking Instructions).
