4. Using large pieced squares, 2" blue square, and 2" x 5" white rectangles, stitch Bear's Paw Block (see Diagram III). Make 10.
5. Referring to Diagram IV to make Shoo Fly Block, sew large pieced square using 2" x 5" white rectangle, 2" x 3 1/2" white rectangle, and blue and white pieced square. Make 20

6. Stitch Shoo Fly Block using large pieced squares, 2" x 5" white rectangles, and 2" blue square as shown in Diagram V. Make 5.

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER
Note:
Refer to Assembly Diagram for following steps.
7. Sew 6 horizontal rows using blocks and 11" white squares. Stitch rows together.
8. Sew 1 3/4" x 68" red strip to sides of quilt. Trim even with top and bottom. Stitch remaining red strips to top and bottom of quilt and trim even with sides.
9. Stitch 3 1/2" x 70" white strip to sides of quilt. Trim even with top and bottom. Sew remaining white strips to top and bottom of quilt and trim even with sides.

QUILTING AND FINISHING
10. Layer and baste quilt top for quilting method of your choice. Quilt as desired.

11. Bind quilt with remaining white fabric (see Quiltmaking Lessons).
