Red Brick Road
Owned by Cindy Rennels

Red-and-white Sawtooth and Snowball blocks placed diagonally create strong lines in this dramatic quilt. The repetition of just two blocks, along with the absence of borders, makes this one quicker than it looks.

... 288 squares 2" x 2"
... 72 squares 6 1/2" x 6 1/2"

PIECING THE BLOCKS
1. Referring to Diagram I, stitch red 2 3/8" half-square triangle to sides of white 4 1/4" quarter-square triangle to make pieced rectangle. Make 288. Using 4 pieced rectangles, 4 white 2" squares, and 1 red 3 1/2" square, make Sawtooth Block (see Diagram II). Make 72.
2. Draw diagonal line on wrong side of red 2" square with marking tool of your choice. Referring to Diagram III, place red square on white 6 1/2" square, right sides together, aligning raw edges. Stitch on drawn line; trim away and discard excess fabric. Press open to make Snowball Block. Make 72.
