Playful polka dot nine-patch blocks take center stage in this sweet child's quilt. Several more rows circle the center, while yellow calico sashing strips make it bright.

PLANNING, CUTTING, AND MARKING
Even though it appears scrappy at first glance, this carefully planned quilt uses just five prints to make the nine-patch blocks. A dainty yellow calico adds the sunshine that makes it charming.

... *2 strips 2"x 70", pieced from 4 strips 2" x width of fabric (WOF)

... 39 strips 1 1/2" x WOF
Yellow print
... *2 strips 2" x 75", pieced from 4 strips 2" x WOF
... *2 strips 2" x 45", pieced from 3 strips 2" x WOF
... 5 strips 3 1/2" x WOF
... 144 strips 1 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Green, purple, red prints—cut from each:
