Pine
Burr blocks whirl under a southern sky in this exuberant turn-of-the-century
quilt, also known as Feathered Star and Pine Cone. Notice how each block's
pieced tip contributes to its own corner pinwheel! Darlene Zimmerman purchased
the top in Minnesota, quilted it after minor repairs, then backed it with
a reproduction print to match the indigo fabrics in the top. Old-time
quiltmakers considered the Pine Burr a complicated pattern, but we've
made it easy for you with paper-foundation piecing.
