Appliquéing the Blocks
1. To cut dark green 1 1/2" x 297" continuous bias strip, use a 23" square and refer to How To Make Continuous Bias. Referring to Diagram I, fold bias strip in half, wrong sides together. Stitch 1/4" from raw edge. Trim seam allowance to 1/8". Press tube flat, centering seam allowance on back so raw edge isn't visible from front. Using 1/2" bias bar makes pressing faster and easier.
2. Finger-press ivory solid 14 1/2" squares as indicated by dotted lines in Diagram II; use folds as placement guide. Referring to Diagram II and photo, position bias stems (clip lengths as needed) and template fabrics (in alphabetical order). Using appliqué method of choice (see Basic Quiltmaking Instructions), appliqué in place. Trim to 13 1/2" square. Make 13 total Tulip Blocks.

Quilt Top Assembly
Note: Refer to Assembly Diagram for following steps.
3. Arrange and sew 5 rows using blocks (rotate as shown) and medium pink 13 1/2" squares. Sew rows together.
4. Stitch medium pink 9 1/2" x 68" strips to sides; trim even with top and bottom. Stitch remaining medium pink strips to top/bottom; trim even with sides.

Quilting & Finishing
5. Layer and baste quilt top for quilting method of your choice (see Basic Quiltmaking Instructions). The appliqué is ditch quilted. The center block appliqué motif was used as the quilting motif for the pink squares. A tulip and leaf motif covers the border.
6.Bind quilt with ivory solid fabric (see Basic Quiltmaking Instructions).
