Pristine white combined with any dark color will result in a striking quilt. Although this original blue-and-white beauty was most likely hand pieced using templates, our instructions rely on quick-piecing techniques to complete this future heirloom.

PLANNING THE QUILT
The classic combination of blue and white is always appealing, but this design can work just as well with your favorite dark color or one that fits your decorating scheme.

CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS
Dark blue print
... 32 squares 1 3/4" x 1 3/4"
... 256 squares 2 1/8" x 2 1/8"
... 128 squares 3" x 3"
White solid
... 31 squares 9 1/4" x 9 1/4"
... 128 squares 1 3/4" x 1 3/4"
... 128 strips 1 3/4" x 4 1/4"
... 256 squares 2 1/8" x 2 1/8"

PIECING THE BLOCKS
1. On wrong side of white 2 1/8" square, draw diagonal line with marking tool of your choice. Referring to Diagram I, place white square on blue 2 1/8" square, right sides together. Sew 1/4" seam on each side of marked line; cut apart on marked line. Press open to make pieced squares. Make 512.
