Planning, Cutting, and Marking
The pillowcase fabric is from P&B Textiles. The house stripe is printed along the selvage edge of the red/white check. Be sure to cut the pillowcases rectangles with the houses running along the long side as illustrated in Diagram I.
Cutting Instructions

... 2 rectangles 31 1/2" x 40 1/2"
... 4 rectangles 15 1/2" x 21"
Muslin
... 2 strips 5 1/2" x 40 1/2"
Piecing the Pillowcases
1. Referring to Diagram I, stitch muslin 5 1/2" x 40 1/2" strip to house stripe edge of red/white check 31 1/2" x 40 1/2" rectangle. Make 2. Fold in half (right sides together) as illustrated by dashed line in diagram.

2. Using 1/4" seam allowance, stitch layers together along 2 sides as shown in Diagram II-A.

3. To hem open end (muslin), fold 1/4" to wrong side and press (see Diagram II-B). Fold 1/4" to wrong side again and press. Stitch along fold to hold. Turn remaining width of muslin to wrong side to line house stripe (II-C); press. Pin to hold in place. Turn pillowcase right side out. Topstitch along printed stripe bordering house design, being sure to catch hemmed edge of muslin that was turned/pinned to wrong side of case (II-D). Make 2 pillowcases.
